Acolhimento e Humanização como ferramentas efetivas na Odontologia: protocolo de sala de espera

Anxiety and fear are frequent emotions in today's society, affecting people of different ages and social classes. These are conditions that also accompany dental treatment and can greatly influence the behavior of patients during care, characterizing a universal problem. Knowing the possible reactions of the patient in the dental environment helps dental treatment, therefore, it is extremely important to address the biopsychosocial aspects that involve their context of life and that are capable of generating negative behaviors. The objective of this work was to evaluate the role of humanization and welcoming as important and necessary tools in reducing anxiety among dental patients, using communication, simple and respectful attitudes towards others, solidarity, trust, affection and individualized attention in welcoming the waiting room. Based on the scientific literature, what is perceived is that the practice of welcoming and humanization in the dental context presents similar and positive results, providing a more harmonious and healthy relationship between patient and dentist, reducing states of anxiety and fear. It is possible to conclude that the feelings of security and well-being, generated in the patient, contribute to his return to consultations, positively impacting his oral health.A ansiedade e o medo são emoções frequentes na atual conjuntura da sociedade, afetando pessoas de diversas idades e classes sociais. São condições que também acompanham o tratamento odontológico e podem influenciar sobremaneira o comportamento dos pacientes durante o atendimento, caracterizando um problema universal. Conhecer as possíveis reações do paciente no ambiente odontológico auxilia o tratamento dentário, por isso, é de suma importância a abordagem dos aspectos biopsicossociais que envolvem seu contexto de vida e que são capazes de gerar comportamentos negativos. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar o papel da humanização e do acolhimento como ferramentas importantes e necessárias na redução da ansiedade dos pacientes odontológicos, utilizando a comunicação, as atitudes simples e de respeito para com o outro, a solidariedade, a confiança, a afetividade e a atenção individualizada no acolhimento da sala de espera. Com base na literatura científica, o que se percebe é que a prática do acolhimento e da humanização no contexto odontológico apresenta resultados semelhantes e positivos, proporcionando uma relação mais harmônica e saudável entre paciente e cirurgião-dentista, reduzindo estados de ansiedade e medo. É possível concluir que os sentimentos de segurança e bem-estar, gerados no paciente, contribuem para seu retorno às consultas, impactando positivamente em sua saúde bucal
