This article delves into the emergence of citizenship as a modern political category at the dawn of Latin American republics, especially in post-revolutionary Chile. To do that, a set of prints published between 1810 and 1829 have been analyzed, among them edicts, pamphlets and catechisms of so-called “minor genres” in which flexible forms of citizenship are brought about, with specific contours derived from their relationship with the soldier and the Christian patriot figures.
