The neotropical genus Varronia P. Browne is one of the most problematic, taxonomically, among the Boraginales. This may be due to the frequency of overlapping the boundaries between intra and interspecific variation of some characters. The purpose of this project was to explore the potential of foliar morpho-anatomic characters for the delimitation of the species found within the Varronia bullata complex in Panama: Varronia inermis (Mill.) Borhidi, Varronia bullata L. and Varronia linnaei (Stearn) J.S. Windmill. For this purpose, mature leaves were collected in different populations for each species.
