On-line learning is a process which is facilitated through the use of the Internet and the World Wide Web. It has the potential for stimulating learning on a social constructivist paradigm given the wide range of applications available on the Internet and the web. The social constructivist paradigm is associated with creative thinking and problem solving through collaborative learning. In spite of this, problems related to the practice act as impediments to effective on-line learning in some higher education institutions.
