Cationic liposomes complexed with DNA have been used extensively as non-viral vectors for the intracellular delivery of reporter or therapeutic genes in culture and in vivo. However, the relationship between the features of the lipid-DNA complexes (\u27lipoplexes\u27) and their mode of interaction with cells, the efficiency of gene transfer and gene expression remain to be clarified.
