This paper examines the information on the kingdom of Bithynia in the work of Memnon of Herakleia (BNJ 434). The evidence provies us with further evidence in support of Billows' proposal that Memnon drew from both works by Nymphis of Herakleia for the account of the 4th-3rd c. BC. In the second part, the paper argues that Memnon himself collected and arranged information for the account of the late 2nd-1st c. BC. If so he lived in a time close to the latest events he described and not in the 2nd c. AD as supposed by several scholars
