Histoire et historiens de Propontide et de Bithynie : mythes, récits et identités

History and Historians from Propontis and Bithynia: Myths, Narratives, and Identities. The purpose of this paper is to study the cultural history of the Straits region, more precisely the local history and universal Greek history, some episodes of which concern the Propontis and Bithynia. After introducing the people involved, an inquiry was made about the place occupied by this field of knowledge in the intellectual history of the region. The second part is devoted to the writing of history, assigning an important part to heroes, foundations, and local populations. Finally, I focus on the role of history and historians in the making of a regional identity as well as the place given to universal history. Based on these results, I examine how such writings could generate geographical and historical unity as well as a community of myths and cultural traditions.Cette contribution se propose d’aborder l’histoire culturelle de la région des Détroits, plus précisément l’histoire locale et l’histoire grecque universelle dont certains épisodes concernent la Propontide et la Bithynie. Après avoir identifié les acteurs, on s’est interrogé sur la place qu'occupe ce domaine du savoir dans l’histoire intellectuelle de la région. Le deuxième volet a été consacré à l’écriture de l'histoire, qui laisse une part importante aux héros, aux fondations et aux populations locales. À partir de ces aspects, nous avons mis en évidence le rôle de l’histoire et des historiens dans la construction d’une identité régionale, ainsi que la place accordée à l’histoire universelle. Ces acquis nous ont permis de focaliser notre attention sur l’unité géographico-historique qui pouvait ressortir de ces ouvrages et sur une possible communauté des mythes et des traditions culturelles.Dana Madalina.
