International audienceIn France, access to land is often presented as a matter of simple national legal norms. The article aims to show the spatial diversity of effective practices that compound regulations, local social conventions and contractual relations. The combination of these dimensions into local ‘‘farmland management styles’’ can be explained by evolving power dynamics between landowners, farmers, land market control agencies and local authorities.
