Uma análise intersemiótica da obra Laranja Mecânica, de Anthony Burgess, para o cinema

When we talk about translation, the first thing that comes to mind is an idea of a translated text from one language into another. However, this concept has no critical or scientific foundation. Along this paper, our objective is to prove that the translation - the transposition process of meanings of a set of signs into another set of signs - is not restricted to the translation of texts from one language to another, which according Jakobson, is only a modality of the different types of translation: interlingual. For this article, we will discuss the translating types proposed by Jakobson, in order to apply it to a specific kind of translation: the intersemiotic translation. We will therefore focus on the film adaptation of Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange, by the British director Stanley Kubrick. Our analysis will be based on Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics, on Roman Jakobson's theory of translation, and on the translation studies undertaken by Susan Bassnett. We will then move from the common conception of translation to the analysis of the inter-semiotic resources used by Kubrick in the film adaptation.Quando se fala em tradução, a primeira coisa que vem à mente de grande parte das pessoas é a ideia de um texto traduzido de uma língua à outra. No entanto, esta concepção mostra-se vazia de embasamento crítico ou científico. Nosso objetivo, no corpo deste trabalho, é mostrar que a tradução – processo de transposição de significados de um conjunto de signos por meio de outro conjunto de signos – não se restringe apenas à tradução de textos de uma língua para a outra, o que segundo Jakobson trata-se apenas de uma modalidade dos tipos de tradução, a interlingual. Neste artigo abordaremos os tipos de tradução propostos por Jakobson, mas principalmente nos deteremos a aplicar as teorias sobre uma das modalidades de tradução, a intersemiótica, na adaptação fílmica da obra Laranja Mecânica, do escritor Anthony Burgess, pelo diretor britânico Stanley Kubrick para o cinema. Para atingir esse fim, embasaremos este trabalho elencando em nossa análise a ciência dos signos – semiótica – de Charles Sanders Peirce, a teoria sobre tradução de Roman Jakobson e os estudos sobre tradução de Susan Bassnett. Dividimos o artigo em tópicos que apresentam desde a concepção comum sobre tradução, à análise dos recursos intersemióticos utilizados por Kubrick na adaptação fílmica
