The Hirsch Family Collection, Mergentheim holds the papers of Abraham Hirsch, his children and one grandson. The collection consists of various official, business and personal documents as well as four folders of personal correspondence, including the courtship letters of Jakob Abraham and Esther Hirsch.Abraham Hirsch was a businessman who held property in Mergentheim (today Bad Mergentheim), Germany during the early to mid-nineteenth century. He had several children, among them Salomon, Marie, Wolf, Babette and Jakob Abraham. Babette Hirsch married Moses Loewensohn in August 1839. Wolf Hirsch established a soap boiling business in Paris and as a journeyman walked from Paris to Constantinople. Jakob Abraham Hirsch married Esther Cohn in August 1850.
