Esta pesquisa se volta para as obras de quatro artistas conhecidos durante viagem da pesquisadora ao Mali no início do ano de 2017: as irmãs Aminata e Aissatan Tolo, Abdou Ouologuem e Ladji Barry, cujas produções se articulam pela manufatura sobre o tecido de algodão, suporte de base de seus trabalhos. As irmãs Tolo, instaladas em Bamako, capital do Mali, bordam sobre o pano índigo formas que remetem a valores de sua sociedade de origem, dogon. Abdou esculpe máscaras-vestimentas-telas a partir de volumes preenchidos de fios de algodão, técnica conhecida como gaufrage que atribui a um conhecimento ancestral da população Tellem.
