Through a quantitative study with artists and institutions, this thesis intends to inform the process of emergence of an aesthetic in colonial, postcolonial and decolonial settings. This work is interested in economic and social modalities that have contributed to the formation of a belief in the value of Afro-Caribbean plastic productions or claiming them. The field survey is based on the analysis of questionnaires, artistic data collections, clinical interviews, participatory and ethnographic observations. The study questions the rationalities of visual artist and their expressions in figurative representation, speeches and practices.
