This thesis will focus on two nuclear arms control agreements between the United States and Russia, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty and the New START Treaty, and how their status relates to the two states’ wavering commitment to arms control. By examining the development of these treaties, the direct (The United States and Russia) and indirect Parties involved in each treaty, and the current state of each treaty, this paper provides insight into the motivations behind the treaties and the treaties’ contributions to strategic and regional stability
