Adolf Rosenthal Family Collection 1774-1890

This collection contains vital records, personal, family, and business papers pertaining to Nathan Amschel Rosenthal and the family of his wife Regina Franck. Among the papers are birth certificates, marriage contracts and documents, professional certifications and employment documents, Schutzbriefe (letters of protection), real estate documentation, and some documents stemming from a court case involving Rosenthal and the Frank family. The collection also contains a small handwritten Yiddish volume of folk remedies and recipes.Nathan Amschel was born into a family of Schutzjuden (protected Jews) in Niederhofheim, now incorporated into Liederbach am Taunus, in 1798. He married Regina Frank in 1834 and took on the surname Rosenthal in 1839.
