We present algebraic structures in relation with one and two dimensional systems, as they are studied in physics. We show how these structures can be used to obtain a better understanding of the physical models they deal with. This manuscript is divided into four parts, each of them describing a particular domain of physics in which the algebraic framework can apply, namely:- Two-dimensional conformal field theories, and especially \cw-algebras.
