206 p.The study of biological invasions is essential in conservation biology. In addition, invasive species represent natural experiments to explore ecological and evolutionary processes. The topic of this thesis is the study of evolutionary processes involved in the worldwide invasive success of gorse, Ulex europaeus, in relation to the loss of its natural enemies (Enemy Release). The first part of this thesis deals with the evolution of gorse in its native range and during its introduction into new regions, (i) by synthesizing results on trait polymorphism and on phenotypic plasticity in the native range, (ii) by combining historical and molecular data to infer the mode of introduction of gorse across the world, and its consequences on in...
