Synthetic polymers are widely used nowadays as prosthetic implants. Unfortunately, these implants are invsisble by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The visualization of these implants is a necessity in order to gain information concerning their fixation in the body and post-operation fate. One of the challenges is then to fix a contrast agent on the implant. Thus the objective is to develop novel strategies for the long-term visualization of prosthetic implants by MRI. For this goal, a polymer will first be functionalized with a contrast agent in a covalent way, and then it will be deposited by coating on the surface of the prosthesis.
