Armistice Celebration Crowd on North Meridian Street Parading to Monument Circle

One of these trucks is dragging a wash tub behind it to make noise. The man riding on top of the cab is beating on something, possibly a washboard.When peace was officially announced Governor Goodrich called on everyone who could to celebrate. The spirit of the city became carnival like. Trains and interurbans stopped, and factories and shops closed as everyone wanted to get downtown to celebrate. On and around Monument Circle people marched, sang, and shouted. Every noisemaking device possible was used including horns, bells, skillets, fire engines, cymbals, and cans. The celebration continued well into the night, eventually halted by fatigue
