Comprised of a hardcover book, poster and audio CD, this document to accompany a comprehensive exhibition of works by Rist reflects the Swiss artist’s characteristically complex mix of video, poetry, performance and installation. The book consists primarily of photographic/video images, which are combined with texts (excerpts from videos, artist’s statements and song lyrics). It also includes three essays that foreground the social impact of Rist’s work, her aesthetic choices and the role of the spectator.
