He was found listed in the Indianapolis city directory as the president of the Emerson B. Knight Inc., located in the Print Craft Building at 225 North New Jersey Street. The company was involved in advertising and consumer research. The 1930 census found him living in Seattle, Washington with his wife Kathryn and their two daughters, Emily and Sylvia.
