During the 1940s, Lilly supplied more than 200 products to the U.S. government during World War II. At the request of the American Red Cross, Lilly provided blood plasma for American troops. Before the war ended, the company had delivered 2,168,000 pints of blood plasma-20 percent of all blood gathered by the Red Cross in the United States. While the company received no profit for this effort, it was an honor to serve the country by supplying the life-saving fluid.Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
