The aim of this study was to investigate how and why three elementary school teachers use read-alouds as part of their everyday instruction. The questions at issue discuss the teachers’ intention with the read-aloud activities, their choice of appropriate books and texts, how their read-aloud carry trough and what possible correlation is visible between the read-aloud activity and pupils’ interest in reading and reading comprehension. The method to collect the data was a combination of observation and interviews. During the observations the purpose was to observe how the teachers’ read-aloud practice occurs and which activities that follows.
