Chronic migraine associated with essential arterial hypertension: clinical aspects, differential diagnosis, pathogenetic interferences (series of clinical cases)

Both pathologies are well known risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and silent white matter lesions. Analysis of patients with migraine and hypertension has evoked an interesting patient’s interpretation of the condition: the patient with previous headache history from the moment he was told about the hypertension has forgotten about migraine and was considering every headache as caused by hypertension. This situation leads to neglect of migraine treatment and antihypertensive medication overuse. Asocierea dintre migrenă și hipertensiunea arterială esențială (HTA) este un subiect larg discutat în literatura de specialitate. Ambele patologii sunt factori de risc cunoscuți pentru patologiile cardiovasculare și cerebro-vasculare, și provoacă leziuni silențioase ale substanței albe cerebrale. Analiza lotului de pacienți cu migrenă asociată cu HTA a conturat o paradigma interpretativă specială: pacientul are istoric îndelungat de migrenă dar din momentul obiectivizării HTA interpretează orice cefalee ca atribuită hipertensiunii arteriale, ceea ce duce la neglijarea migrenei și abuzul medicamentos
