DI ANTARA DOMINASI ARENA SOSIAL KELOMPOK-KELOMPOK TEATER SEKULER

Abstract Islamic Indonesian modern theater is only a minority among the majority of Indone- sian Moslem. In order to achieve a certain position in society the “Teater Muslim” has made some efforts to survive within social field domination that rich of individuals, groups, as well as institutions maneuvers even though the existence of Islamic modern theatre is under the domination of secular theatre groups. Through these efforts the Teater Musilm is culturally capable to compete with secular theatre groups maneu- ver. This article illustrates the Teater Muslim’s 30 years efforts in disseminating Islamic teaching through modern theatre approach. This analysis is focused on the domination mechanism of secular theaters against the Teater Muslim in a social field. Through a realism style, the Teater Muslim has appropriately set Islamic mission in its performances and successfully rich its special position within the social field. This study found that situation, resource, and strategy, are in fact important factors of domination winning in social fields. Keywords: Teater Muslim, social field, secular theatre Abstrak Teater modern Indonesia yang bernafaskan Islam menjadi minoritas di tengah-tengah mayoritas penduduk Indonesia yang beragama Islam. Keberadaan teater modern bernafaskan Islam didominasi oleh teater- teater sekuler. Teater Muslim merupakan grup teater yang mampu melawan dominasi teater-teater sekuler dalam sebuah arena sosial. Arena sosial penuh dengan manuver-manuver, baik dari individu, kelompok, maupun lembaga untuk mencapai posisi tertentu. Secara kultural Teater Muslim mampu mengatasi berbagai manuver yang dilakukan oleh teater sekuler. Tulisan ini memaparkan upaya Teater Muslim selama 30 tahun dalam menyemai ajaran-ajaran Islam melalui teater modern. Analisis akan difokuskan pada mekanisme dominasi teater sekuler terhadap Teater Muslim dalam sebuah arena sosial. Melalui gaya realisme, Teater Muslim mengemas ajaran-ajaran Islam dengan baik sehingga mampu menempati posisi tersendiri dalam arena sosial. Dalam semua arena sosial, ada yang mendominasi dan yang terdominasi. Posisi mendominasi atau terdominasi tergantung pada situasi, sumber daya, dan strategi pelaku.
