The primary goal of this research is to: a) provide an approximate (rough) estimation of the nature and prevalence of property crimes within marriage; b) make an inventory of the private law options to tackle property crimes within marriage; c) map the opinions of professionals and academics on the exemption from prosecution; and d) describe how foreign legislators have dealt with this problem in their national criminal laws. The secondary goal is to pay attention to the overarching concept of ‘economic violence’, a form of violence that property crimes can form part of
