The possible causes of this cyclothemic sedimentation are re-evaluated based upon a comparison of the stratigraphy, sedimentology, and diagenesis of four, similar, successive cyclothems over a wide area in the subsurface of western Kansas using cores, cuttings, and wireline logs.
