Fray Pedro de Urbina, un franciscano para la embajada concepcionista filipina de 1652

El present article analitza els preparatius de l’ambaixada organitzada el 1652 per Felip IV per a gestionar davant de la Santa Seu el negoci de la Immaculada Concepció de la Verge. Seria el seu titular l’arquebisbe de València fra Pedro de Urbina, avalat pel seu compromís amb aquest misteri marià, del que com a bon fi ll de Sant Francesc era devot convençut. Així ho revelaria el seu pas pel convent de San Diego, a Alcalá de Henares, o la seva participació a la junta que des de feia dècades assessorava a la corona en aquesta matèria.The present article analyses the preparations for the commission that Philip IV organized in 1652 in order to arrange the issue of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary at the Vatican. Th e main representative was the archbishop of Valencia, Brother Pedro of Urbina, renowned through his commitment and devotion to the Marian mystery, being a faithful follower of saint Francisco. Th is was later shown by his stage at the convent of San Diego, in Alcalá de Henares, or by his role in the board that had been counseling the crown in this matter for decades.-
