International audienceMost methods of economic analysis (historical, qualitative and quantitative) have been used to analyse the economic and social consequences of disarmament. Military expenditure itself is not only dependent on political decisions but also on political constraints. The existence or not of a military-industrial complex or of alliances between great powers modifies the behaviour of states in the framework of an international disarmament procedure.
