The Institute for occupational safety of the Berufsgenossenschaften (BIA) has devised a new series of events, in the form of BIA symposia, which are designed to provide a forum for the exchange of opinion between experts, thus playing a part in the process of solving current problems. It is the fact that major new developments are expected in the near future as regards both limits of reference values for hazardous substances at the workplace, and in part also new protection concepts, that the symposium on 'Limits for the effects of chemicals at the workplace - scientific findings and new concepts' was organised.
