The present report comprises work performed during the fourth quadrennial period since the R and D program 'Radiation Damage in Solids' was established at the Hahn-Meitner-Institut, Berlin. When the new activities on high temperature properties of superalloys became a significant part of the work the title of the program was changed in 1986 to 'Highly Stressed Metallic Materials'.
