Gas in form of LNG plays already an important role as an export commodity in Indonesia and on the domestic market the share of gas will increase considerably in the future. Especially in the industrial sector the consumption is growing. In the long run the demand for gas will increase in Jawa so strongly that an interregional supply via pipelines from east Kalimantan or Natuna will be necessary. Keeping this background in mind, special attention is put on the gas section in the MARKAL-energy planning study. The purpose of this paper is the documentation of the MARKAL input data of the gas sector. The data derivation from the original sources is shown in detail. The contents of the paper deals with gas resources, LPG- and LNG plants and with gas pipelines. A comprehensive list of references indicates the data sources.
