Migration und Inversion bohrlochseismischer Daten - DEKORP/Phase 4 Schlussbericht

The project aims at: 1. development of methods for processing borehole seismic data (migration, inversion and processing), 2. experiments with bit noise measurements as inverse VSP; 3. processing and interpretation of MSP and at KTB. The elastic wave field is inverted within a scattering theory using Radon transformation. With appropriate configuration of sources and sensors which always include borehole data, the inversion of P-SV data is able to recognize steeply dipping faults; these cannot be resolved within an acoustic approximation. Bit noise as a source principally offers the opportunity to develop an iVSP method. Bit noise contains important information on lithological properties of drilled rocks (snaplogs). The interpretation of MSP data at KTB yields new information about the crystalline crust. A controlled directional migration and stacking method is developed. The vertical geophone array in the borehole is the key element of this method by determining the vertical slowness with great accuracy. A combined interpretation of borehole and surface seismics shows that fluid-filled faults play an important role in originating seismic reflections in the crystalline crust.
