Upper pleistocene lagamorphs of the Boquete de Zafarraya cave. The lagomorph species of the Boquete de Zafarraya cave are represented by Lepsus sp. (approximately 7.300 elements). A metric analysis undertaken with the various bone remains attributed to the later species shows that we are dealing with a small sized rabbit of the sub-species Oryctolagus cuniculus huxleyi (=algirus). The origin of this accumulation has multiple causes (small and medium sized carnivores and probably noctural birds of prey) while the anthropic action on it, althought probable in some layers of the strtigraphic sequence, was not revealed in the present study.
