A number of malpractice cases have recently become rubrics, this is quite alarming because a doctor is always accused of being a criminal. This research was conducted with the aim to find out how legal protection for doctors suspected of carrying out medical malpractice. By using normative research, it can be concluded that in carrying out their duties, a doctor has the right to obtain legal protection and to be free from lawsuits if he has carried out medical actions in accordance with standard operating procedures, professional standards, medical service standards, explaining about informed consent to patients, having a letter of sign registration for practice, and making medical records, so if something bad happens to the patient after all the procedures are done correctly the doctor cannot be blamed
