GRAMMAR TRANSLATION METHOD (GTM) VERSUS COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING (CLT): A REVIEW OF LITERATURE

English educational practitioners have to choose appropriate method to reach the goals of objectives in every learning process in classes. There are two famous methods, called, Grammar Translation Method (GTM) and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) that have far different principles that would be discussed in this paper. Since GTM was introduced long time ago and CLT is still new todays. The writer would compare both of them in order to improve the knowledge of English educational practitioners in teaching learning process because both of them have the strength and weaknesses that can be seen and taken the idea to teach English in classes
