The current paper aims at considering the relation between the present educational norm - concerning Law n.13.415 particularly - the importance given to foreign languages at schools, and their correlation with the sociolinguistic reality in the state of Santa Catarina from a foreign language teachers' education perspective. Supported by postulates of Applied, Critical Linguistics as not a discipline, as well as from the glotopolitics viewpoint, the work reflects on foreign languages presence in schools’ curricula and on plurilingualism as reality and action.
