Based on an analysis of primary sources and journalistic discourses of the early 20th century, this study shows that most of the current problems of the spoken Belarusian standard language already appeared as early as the 1920s. The study describes what priorities the Belarusian intelligetsia of the time had with respect to the development of standard Belarusian in general and its spoken form in particular. = На основании анализа первоисточников публицистического дискурса 1910–1920-х гг. показано, что нынешние проблемы устной белорусской речи в большинстве своем были актуальны уже в 1920-е гг. прошлого века. Установлены приоритеты тогдашней белорусской интеллигенции относительно развития литературного языка и белорусской разговорной речи в частности
