Dr. Howard is continuing as Educational Secretary in America for the second year, 1956-57. Studies during the year will indicate the organizational form that the American, and international, program should then take. A few. additional items of University development not reported last Novem-ber (some have been developed since) are: 1. The reconstruction of a classroom into the C. Worth Howard Drama Workshop. This project was financed by the alumni of the University. 2. The extensive development of plans for a concentration of Middle East Studies. Non-Middle East participation in the plan will be under the title Junior Year in Egypt (See Appendix III) . A cons iderable number of excellent American colleges and universities have shown great interest in participation in the plan through student exchange. 3. The circulation of a well-prepared paper on graduate studies at the University indicates a cónsiderable interest on the part of American graduate schools in student and teacher exchange on that level. (See Appendix Iv) 4. A Businessmen's Committee for the University has been organized among some thirty heads of American-Middle Eastern business firms and corporations in Egypt. The degree of enthusiasm among the 'committee men supports the . inference that considerable financial help may be forthcoming from this source. 5.
