REPORT OF COMMITTEE The report of the Committee on Buildings and ON BUILDINGS- AND Grounds was approved (Appendix C), and the fol- GROUNDS lowing resolutions adopted: 1. THAT the Trustees approve the engagement of Mr. Charles A. Gunn to act as architect in preparing preliminary plans for the development of the suburban property and submitting these plans to the Trustees for their approval. 2. THAT the Trustees authorize the expenditure of money sufficient to cover the first stage of work in the development of the sub-urban property, viz., Mr. Gunn's going to Egypt, his stay in Egypt of about two months, presentation of material in America, and conferences with Amer_.can consultants, with the understand-ing that the total expenditure will not exceed $5,000 and will be subject to the approval of the Finance Committee. And fur-ther that the necessary funds be borrowed by the Treasurer and that principal and annual interest be charged to the suburban property account. 390. REPORT OF THE far. R. W. Harbison, Chairman, presented the report FINANCE COMMITTEE of the Finance Committee (see Appendix D). The report was approved and the following recommenda-tions adopted: THAT Dr. Russell Galt's salary- be paid to June 30, 1938; and in case he has not secured a position by June 30, that his salary be continued until such time as he does secure a position, up to and ending September 1, 1938. THAT, in connection with the Retirement Fund, the full amount of the annual payments made by the University from the time the fund was first started to the present time, together with interest, be paid to Dr. Galt. This amounted to $.1,435.85 on June 30, 1938. THAT a cash settlement of $400 be made to Dr. Galt in full pay-ment for the freight allowance for the return of his household goods to America, thus releasing the University from all further claims on this account. THAT the Trustees approve the action of the Finance Committee in adding to the .University budget for 1938-39, a fund of $500 for special promotion in Egypt to be used to increase the enrollment in the College. THAT the Trustees approve the action of the Finance Committee in voting a total budget of $99,763.34-for the year 1938-39, consist-ing of $72,580 to be raised in America for the regular budget in Egypt; $500 as a special allowance for promotion in Egypt; $20,1.60 . for interest charges, retirement fund, administration and promotion in America; $3,190 for the maintenance account of the suburban prop-erty; and $3,333.34 for the improvement a. nd development of the sub-urban property (see Appendix D-1 and D-2)
