This article has wet with very wide acceptance. It was published in full in the "Egy ptian Mail" and "Al _Sya.ssa". The right to translate and publish it in France w s given to Dr. 441cc,ues Hadamard, member of the Institute de France and Professor at the College de France, Paris. T)r. Aydelotte, President of bwarthmore College, sent it to School and Society for publicat-ion, and I have just resh.ped the article for this magazine. The Nineteenth Century and After, of London, has accepted it for publication in September. Mr. Childs, of the Aerican Legation, reports that he sent a copy to the State Department at Washington and received in reply a very complimetary letter approving of the article. Mr. Norman Mayers, Second Oriental Sec-retary of the British Residence in Cairo, reported to me last week that the article had been approved by the Residency and on the strength of it, they had urged the Foreign Office in London to finance English education openly in Egypt just as the French are doing. In facing the year that lies ahead of us, a great degree of sat-isfaction is obtained from the fact that the Faculty which is to carry on consists of proved and experiencE d men, who understand the nature of the task that is ours and whose suggestions and ideas concerning it have been moulded in the actual crucible of Egyptian school experience. This ought to make for a well coordinated and harmonious Faculty which we have not had during the last few years, because of the avalanche of half-baked criticism which was freely made by the inexperienced men who have left us. In conclusion, let me express on behalf of lay colleagues our gratification that you were able to be with us during the difficult past school year to guide us with your mature wisdom and experience.
