Buildings account for approximately 40% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in Finland. Even though the impacts are small at the building level, construction activities account for 4% of the total emissions in Finland. However, the impacts of the construction site have not been widely studied in previous research because of their insignificance. Construction processes are often studied in line with the other phases of the building life cycle. The assessment of site impacts is often done using assumptions and generalizations, as construction site related data might be inaccurate, and widespread reliable data does not exist.
