In this thesis, nine microbiological modelling programs were investigated. The aim of the study was to go through different modeling programs and to choose the most appropriate one regarding Valio Ltd.'s requirements. The suitability and functionality of the modeling program was demonstrated by practical studies. Both the effect of thermal treatment on Escherichia coli bacteria and the determination of the growth and growth rate of Salmonella Abony bacteria were investigated. Microbiological modelling programs simulate responses of micro-organisms in different environments.
