Sekaviemäröintijärjestelmän mallintaminen - Case: Helsingin Rautatientorin ympäristö

As a result of the climate change, summer rainfalls have been predicted to become more common. These cause flooding both on the streets and in the sewers. Floods have caused severe damages in different districts of Finland. Risks are high, especially in the cities where sewage and storm water are drained into a combined sewer system. In this Master's Thesis, the combined sewer systems network has been modelled in the area of Helsinki Railway Square, covering a region of about one square kilometre. The created model is used to examine the network capacity, sensitivity of flooding, overflow events and the most critical points of the modelled combined sewer network. The model is as exact as possible. It contains all accurate information of the manholes, pipes and special structures of the public combined sewer network in the area. The discharged waters to the sewer are estimated as precisely as possible. Drained roofs were used as catchments when creating the model. The amount of water, which flows from the streets via inlet, has been calculated separately using an accurate laser scanned surface model. The discharge and level of the water was measured in the area. The model was calibrated on the basis of these measurements, which based on two different rain events. The model was examined with a rare rainstorm incident, which occurred in Helsinki on 8th of July 2010, and with three different design storms. The modelling results conform to the measurements and observations. Based on the modelling, the flows are strongly increased almost immediately after rain in the combined sewer systems in the area. According to the examination, the capacity of the network is not sufficient to convey storm water fast enough when rainstorm has occurred. The main issues appeared in the head of the combined sewer network causing pipe pressurizing and flooding of the manhole. The result of the model should be seen as suggestive information relating to the combined sewer systems function and sizing. As the model is used to examine general sewers, it does not give much information of the risks concerning real estates. These depend on the wastewater facilities of the real estates, as a level of junction. This kind of accurate network model can be used to examine the functionality, capacity and critical points of both the main sewers of the combined sewer networks and the head of the sewer networks. Creating a model is laborious, as it requires a great deal of exact input data. However, the detailed combined sewer model can be exploited and used for various purposes. The model can be used when analysing existing network function and planning individual objects of the network.Ilmastonmuutoksen seurauksena kesäisten rankkasateiden on ennustettu lisääntyvän. Näistä aiheutuvat kaupunki- ja viemäritulvat ovat aiheuttaneet suuria vahinkoja eri puolilla Suomea. Varsinkin sekaviemäröityjen kaupunkien keskustoissa riskit ovat suuret, koska jäte- ja hulevedet johdetaan samassa järjestelmässä. Tässä työssä mallinnettiin Helsingin Rautatientorin alueen sekaviemäriverkosto noin neliökilometrin kokoiselta alueelta. Mallilla tutkittiin verkoston kapasiteettia, tulvimisherkkyyttä, tapahtuvia ylivuotoja sekä verkoston toiminnan kannalta kriittisimpiä pisteitä. Luotu malli on mahdollisimman tarkka, sisältäen kaikki alueella olevat kuntayhtymän verkostoon kuuluvat rakenteet koko-, muoto- ja korkotietoineen. Myös viemäriin johdettavat jäte- ja sadevedet sekä verkostoon pääsevät vuotovedet on arvioitu mahdollisimman tarkasti. Viemäriin sadevetensä laskevista katoista luotiin malliin valuma-alueita. Näihin satava vesi päätyy suoraan verkostoon kiinteistön liitoskohdassa. Sadevesikaivojen kautta kadun pinnalta verkostoon päätyvät vedet on saatu erikseen luodusta alueen laserkeilaustutkamittaukseen perustuvasta tarkasta pintamallista. Malli kalibroitiin suoritettujen virtaus- ja pinnankorkeusmittausten perusteella kahdella intensiteetiltään erilaisella sadetapahtumalla. Luotua mallia tarkasteltiin 8.7.2010 Helsingissä olleella harvinaisella rankkasadetapahtumalla sekä kolmella mitoitussateella. Saadut tulokset ovat sopusoinnussa tehtyjen mittausten ja havaintojen kanssa. Mallinnuksen perusteella voidaan sanoa, että sateet vaikuttavat alueen sekaviemärissä lähes välittömästi virtaamaa voimakkaasti kasvattaen. Tehdyn tarkastelun perusteella verkoston kapasiteetti ei ole riittävä johtamaan kaikkia rankkasateella muodostuvia hulevesiä pois tarpeeksi nopeasti. Suurimmat ongelmat ilmenivät verkoston latvaosien putkissa aiheuttaen putkien kapasiteetin täyttymistä ja kaivojen tulvintaa. Mallin antamia tuloksia tulee tarkastella suuntaa antavana tietona ydinkeskustan sekaviemäliriverkon toiminnasta ja mitoituksesta. Mallilla tarkasteltiin yleisiä viemäreitä, eikä sen perusteella voida sanoa kovin paljon kiinteistöihin aiheutuvista riskeistä. Nämä riippuvat kiinteistön viemäröintijärjestelmän ominaisuuksista kuten liitoskorkeudesta. Tutkimuksessa luodulla mahdollisimman tarkalla verkostomallilla voidaan tutkia verkoston toimintaa, kapasiteettia ja kriittisimpiä pisteitä suurien pääviemäreiden lisäksi myös verkoston latvaosien viemäreiden osalta. Mallin luominen on työlästä, koska se vaatii paljon tarkkoja lähtötietoja. Yksityiskohtaista sekaviemäriverkostomallia voidaan kuitenkin hyödyntää ja käyttää monipuolisesti. Mallia voidaan käyttää sekä olemassa olevan verkoston toiminnan analysointiin, että verkoston yksittäisten kohteiden suunnitteluun
