Langattoman mittausjärjestelmän toiminnan varmistaminen

Wireless solutions are widely becoming common, an increasing amount of solutions being carried out without wires. This means that wired systems are being replaced with wireless solutions more and more often. With wireless solutions come new possibilities, but also new challenges come to light. This thesis concentrates on determining how the performance of a measurement system is tested properly to assure a reliable operation of a wireless measurement system. The investigated measurement system is designed for renovation projects where old air conditioning systems are renovated to comply with modern standards. The measurement system operates in a licence free frequency band of 868MHz. The system performance is determined by monitoring both range and connection reliability iii different situations. The performance of the system was tested with real test installation in an office environment. The tests included a long term follow-up period and different interference periods. The test results showed that the wireless measurement system is capable of operating reliably enough even under heavy interference from other similar systems. The system is also robust to external disturbances as physical changes occur in the environment. These results prove that the investigated system is suitable for air conditioning control solutions and these experiences provide good basic know-how when developing new wireless systems.Langattomuus leviää erilaisiin sovelluksiin kiihtyvällä vauhdilla. Parhaimmillaan langattomuus tuo kustannussäästöjä ja joustavuutta järjestelmään. Kun langattomalla ratkaisulla korvataan langallinen ratkaisu, syntyy uusia haasteita, jotka on huomioitava järjestelmää suunniteltaessa. Tässä työssä keskityttiin tutkimaan haasteita, joita langattomuus tuo rakennusautomaatiokäyttöön tarkoitettuun mittausjärjestelmään. Mittausjärjestelmä toimii lisenssivapaalla 868 MHz:n taajuusalueella. Suorituskyky pyrittiin todentamaan testaamalla järjestelmä perusteellisesti. Langattoman yhteyden suorituskykyä arvioidaan kantaman ja pakettihäviön perusteella toimistoympäristössä. Työssä langattoman mittausjärjestelmän suorituskykyä todennettiin oikealla testiasennuksella toimistoympäristössä. Testiasennus todennettiin pitkän ajan seurantamittauksella, jossa seurattiin pakettihäviötä sekä signaalin vaimenemista eri yhteyksillä. Järjestelmää myös häirittiin toisilla vastaavilla järjestelmillä, jotta rinnakkaisten järjestelmien toimivuus saatiin todennettua. Tulokset osoittavat, että langaton järjestelmä toimii riittävän luotettavasti käyttötarkoitukseensa nähden ja ei häiriinny merkittävästi vaikka ulkoisessa ympäristössä tapahtuu muutoksia. Nämä tulokset antavat tärkeää tietoa langattoman yhteyden luotettavuudesta ja ovat hyvä pohja, kun uusia järjestelmiä kehitetään
