The present study offers a distinct possibility to investigate more closely the background social situation and especially the language situation of North Friesian in Germany and of Poles in Lithuania by making comparison between them. The research is illustrated on the basis of representing the language relationship from selected language minorities in both villages – Bargum and Rukainiai. The study covers some essential points of the research i.e. the linguistic competence, usage of language depending on a situation or a speaking person himself, and posture of investigated minorities.Švietimo akademijaVytauto Didžiojo universiteta
