At the beginning of learning piano, the correct skills of using pedals should be mastered and the basic symbols of pedals should be recognized. Appropriate pedal application is the symbol of a pianist with artistic ability and superb understanding ability. Problem question – how development technique of piano pedaling in piano teaching. The object of the research – the development technique of piano pedaling in teaching piano to prospective music teachers. The aim of the research – to explore the possibilities of development the technique of piano pedaling in teaching piano to prospective music teachers. The objectives of the research: 1. To analyse scientific literature and to discuss about the technique of piano pedaling in piano teaching. 2. To disclose theories of piano pedal techniques and notation. 3. To investigate students’ and teachers’ approaches to the development technique of piano pedaling in piano teaching. Research methods: the analysis of scientific literature; a questionnaire-based survey of students and music teachers; interviews; quantitative and qualitative analysis of the survey data. Piano pedals are very important in piano teaching and performance. However, in the actual teaching of pianos, especially the elementary and intermediate stages, piano teachers generally pay more attention to students' innate finger conditions, feelings of music, playing skills, etc., and rarely arrange special courses to teach the application of piano pedals. It is only mentioned briefly when the student must use the pedal in the performance. Students do not have a concept of using pedals to form a system, which will have an impact on the students' improvement in piano skills. Many teachers have no problem with a pedal technique, but they are not very sensitive to theoretical knowledge, including the historical development process of the piano pedal and lack of interest in the in-depth study of the piano pedal. Most students also want to improve their technique of piano pedaling, but due to the usual negligence or teacher's negligence, they do not pay much attention to practicing the piano pedal alone. Tyrimo tikslas – ištirti fortepijono pedalo technikos panaudojimo galimybes mokant groti būsimuosius muzikos mokytojus. Tyrimo uždaviniai: 1. Išanalizuoti mokslinę literatūrą ir aptarti fortepijono pedalo panaudojimo techniką mokant groti fortepijonu. 2. Atskleisti fortepijono pedalo technikos metodus ir žymėjimo teorijas. 3. Ištirti studentų ir dėstytojų požiūrį į fortepijono pedalo panaudojimo techniką mokant groti fortepijonu. Fortepijono pedalas yra labai svarbūs mokant groti fortepijonu. Tačiau dažniausiai mokant groti, ypač pradiniame ir tarpiniame etapuose, mokytojai paprastai daugiau dėmesio skiria studentų įgimtoms pirštų padėtims, muzikos jausmui, grojimo įgūdžiams ir pan. Labai retai rengiami specialius kursai, kuriuose būtų mokoma fortepijono pedalo technikos. Tik trumpai būna minima, kaip studentai, atliekant kūrinį, turi naudoti pedalą. Tyrimas atskleidė, kad daugeliui mokytojų nėra problemų su pedalo technika, tačiau jie nėra labai įsigilinę į pedalo technikos panaudojimo teorines žinias, įskaitant fortepijono pedalo istorinį raidos procesą ir nesidomi gilesniu fortepijono pedalo technikos įvaldymu. Tyrimas parodė, kad dauguma studentų nori patobulinti savo fortepijono pedalo technikos įgūdžius, tačiau dėl įprasto aplaidumo ar dėstytojų aplaidumo jie neskiria pakankamai dėmesio fortepijono pedalo praktikavimui.
