Dear Stu: Since receiving your letter of June 12, I have met with many representatives of our state agencies and organizations regarding the planning and programing for the Central Arizona Project. They express, as I have related to Senator Hayden and our other Congressional members, complete unity on the action taken by Senator Hayden and Senator Goldwater in the introduction of Senate Bill 1658, and the subsequent introduction of the Companion House Bill by Representatives John Rhodes, Morris Udall and George Senner. It is a pleasure to report to you that statewide support by all sections of the state and all segments of the economy is very much in evidence, and there has been a uniting of effort to support our Congressional delegation. Stewart, as you very much realise the imperative need for this Project and the exorbitant costs of any delay, I am sure you will give first priority in support of the passage of these Project bills. The extensive work of your department in producing the exhaustive planning is a great factor in obtaining early authorization and construction funds for the Project. Governor Pat Brown called me a few days ago regarding the meeting you outlined in your letter of June 12 to be held in Washington on July 15.
