Phase 2 contemplates construction of a second outlet drainage channel through the Wellton-Mohawk area, reconstruction of the existing Gila River pilot channel, construction of 12 new wells in the South Gila Valley, certain flood control works, and other facilities. These works would provide better regulation of water deliveries to Mexico and further reduce peak salinity. Phase 3 of the recommendations involves total overall river regulation on the lower Colorado River and would consist of integrating ground-water pumping with river regulation that will be provided by the off-stream Senator Wash Regulatory Reservoir, just upstream from Imperial Dam, now approved for construction.
