The natural forces which carry silt and debris through the canyon would be lost and much of this material would be deposited in and along the sides of the river bed. Opportunities would no longer exist to enjoy the unique recreation values of exploring the area by river, through the rapids and falls, an experience that has attracted wide interest. The reservoir as presently planned would flood a portion of Havasu Creek, which is within Grand Canyon National Park and is a spring-fed stream of unusual beauty, unique in that part of the country.
