On the basis of present estimates the cost of water at the desalting plants ranges from about $90 to $105 depending on whether the fuel considered is coal or gas. Technological improvements, including possible use of nuclear reactor fuel sources, may in the future make this alternative source of water more attractive economically for the Pacific Southwest area. Fish and Wildlife and Recreation Fish and Wildlife facilities proposed for consideration include construction of two Federal fish hatcheries, one Federal wildlife refuge, two State fish hatcheries, eight State wildlife management areas, and 79 State fishing lakes.
